Voter Registration is Closed for the March 2, 2004 Primary

The deadline to register to vote in the

March 2, 2004 Presidential Primary was

February 17, 2004

To register to vote you must obtain and complete a voter registration form. Voter registration forms can be obtained by:

  • visiting the Santa Cruz County Elections Department or your City Clerk’s Office during regular office hours and completing a form;

  • going to your local post offices, libraries, or DMV. Complete the form and mail or deliver it to the Santa Cruz County Elections Department, 701 Ocean St., Room 210, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or drop it off in the White Mailbox in front of the county building (available 24 hours/7days a week);

  • calling your local county elections official and requesting a form: 831-454-2060;

  • calling the Secretary of State’s toll-free voter registration hotline at 1-800-345-VOTE and requesting a form; or

  • downloading a voter registration form from the Secretary of State’s web site (click here for PDF download) and mail or deliver it to the Santa Cruz County Elections Department, 701 Ocean St., Room 210, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or drop it off in the White Mailbox in front of the county building (available 24 hours/7days a week)

Who May Register to Vote

You may register to vote if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a United States citizen

  • You are a resident of California

  • You are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)

  • You are not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony

  • You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote

Re-Registering to Vote

You will need to re-register to vote when:

  • You move

  • You change your name

  • You change your political party affiliation

Remember: In California, the deadline to register to vote for an election is 15 days before each local and statewide election day, so please register early!

It is important that the completed voter registration form has a 15-day deadline postmark on it.
