Signature in Lieu filing period.

Suggested time for jurisdictions holding elections in March to pass a resolution that 1) orders the election; 2) requests the Santa Cruz County Elections Department to conduct the election, and 3) consolidates it with any other jurisdiction holding an election on that same day.

Oct. 28 – Nov. 6, 2019

Declaration of Intent for Judges. If the incumbent does not file, filing is extended for 5 calendar days to November 11 for anyone other than the incumbent to file.

Nov. 11 – Dec. 6, 2019

Candidate Nomination Period. If the incumbent does not file, filing is extended for 5 calendar days to December 11 for anyone other than the incumbent to file.

December 6, 2019

Last day to call an election or file for office.

December 6, 2019

Deadline for filing tax rate statement for bond measures.

December 13, 2019

Deadline for filing arguments for or against local ballot measures.

Deadline for filing analyses of local ballot measures.

December 20, 2019

Deadline for filing rebuttals.

January 3, 2020

First day to mail ballots to military and overseas voters

February 3, 2020

First day to mail ballots to vote-by-mail voters.

February 17, 2020

Deadline to register to vote in March 2020 election.

For those who missed the deadline to register, they can still register and vote at the county elections office or designated location.

Weekend voting – open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Santa Cruz County Elections and Watsonville City Hall.

Election Day – polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

March 6, 2020

E+3 – VBM ballots postmarked on or before Election Day and received by March 6 will be counted.

March 11, 2020

E+8 – last day to cure an unsigned signature on VBM envelope.
