Mark Stone

Party Preference: Democratic
Assemblymember                    Age: 63

For over twenty years, I have fought to improve the quality of life in California as a School Board Member, County Supervisor, Coastal Commissioner and your Assemblymember. In 2012, you sent me to Sacramento to advocate for the rights of people in the 29th Assembly District and across our state.

During my service in the Assembly, my priorities have been clear: protecting the most vulnerable Californians and protecting our environment. I am engaged in comprehensive reforms to help foster youth grow up in supportive homes; leading the movement to create a state Earned Income Tax Credit to lift the state’s poorest working families out of poverty; and improving access to justice in the court system. I have written many laws to improve public safety, especially by helping people released from prison successfully integrate into their communities, and decrease their chances of reoffending.

As a dedicated environmentalist, I steadfastly support critical environmental protections, advocating for landmark climate-change laws, and laws to provide clean drinking water, increase water recycling, improve groundwater management and decrease plastic pollution. I provide a leading voice in the effort to protect our oceans as we adapt to a changing climate.

It is an honor to have the support of so many elected officials, respected business leaders, education, and health care professionals and the environmental community. I hope that I have earned your vote.
