I am a lifelong resident of this region– the grandchild of a farmworker who came here to build a better life. As your Assemblymember, it is my honor to represent the community that has given me and my family so much. My wife Christen and I are raising our daughter here, and I am committed to ensuring that the doors of opportunity remain open for the next generation.
We have made substantial legislative progress despite the challenges of the past few years. I led the successful passage of legislation to enhance safety protections for agricultural workers. I authored the Golden State Teacher Grant Program, which secured $89 million for grants to teachers who commit to teach in a school lacking qualified educators. I have championed efforts to invest in affordable housing and protect our natural environment. I currently serve as Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, advocating for our state’s critical and diverse agricultural sector.
Looking forward, we must ensure that California provides the best public services for its residents. That means great schools, affordable and high-quality healthcare, good paying jobs, and investments in roads, public transit, and other infrastructure that affects our quality of life. Our state must be more efficient and more effective in delivering these services. If re-elected to the State Assembly, this will be a key focus of mine over the next several years.

Soy un residente de toda la vida de esta región, el nieto de un trabajador agrícola que vino aquí para construir una vida mejor. Mi esposa Christen y yo estamos criando a nuestra hija aquí, y estoy comprometido a garantizar que las puertas de la oportunidad permanezcan abiertas para la próxima generación.
Hemos logrado avances legislativos sustanciales a pesar de los desafíos de los últimos años. Lideré la aprobación exitosa de legislación para mejorar las protecciones de seguridad para los trabajadores agrícolas. Fui autor del Programa de Subvenciones para Maestros de Golden State, que aseguró $ 89 millones para subvenciones a maestros que se comprometen a enseñar en una escuela que carece de educadores calificados. He defendido los esfuerzos para invertir en viviendas asequibles y proteger nuestro entorno natural. Mirando hacia el futuro, debemos asegurarnos de que California brinde los mejores servicios públicos para sus residentes. Eso significa excelentes escuelas, atención médica asequible y de alta calidad, empleos bien remunerados e inversiones en carreteras, transporte público y otras infraestructuras que afectan nuestra calidad de vida. Nuestro estado debe ser más eficiente y más efectivo en la prestación de estos servicios. Si es reelegido para la Asamblea Estatal, este será un enfoque clave mío en los próximos años.
